About this sermon
First Kings opens with a kingdom at its height — Solomon's wisdom, his temple, his trade — and closes with it split in two and a prophet on the run from a queen. This survey follows that descent through the division under Rehoboam, the calves set up at Bethel and Dan, and the arrival of Elijah in the reign of Ahab.
