About this sermon
First Samuel turns on a request: give us a king to judge us like all the nations. Around it stand Hannah's prayer, a boy hearing his name in the night, a priesthood gone rotten, and then Saul — chosen, disobedient, and slowly unraveling while a shepherd from Bethlehem is anointed behind him. This survey follows the whole turn from judges to monarchy.
