About this sermon
Jeremiah preached for forty years to a city that would not listen and then watched it burn - imprisoned, lowered into a cistern, finally carried off to Egypt by the survivors. Lamentations is the funeral that follows, five poems over the ruins, with the famous line about mercies new every morning sitting at the exact center. Together they cover the collapse of Judah and the promise of a covenant written on hearts.
