About this sermon
Job loses everything in the first two chapters, and the rest of the book is people trying to explain it. This opening program sets the scene — the heavenly council, the collapse, the three friends who come and sit in silence before they start talking — and the question underneath the whole thing: whether a person serves God for nothing. It is Scripture's oldest sustained argument about divine justice.
