About this sermon
Haggai is barely two chapters, all of it dated to a few months in a single year, and all of it aimed at one problem: the people are living in finished houses while the house of God sits in rubble. Consider your ways, the prophet says, and says again. It is a compact case study in misplaced priorities, and in how quickly a discouraged community can start building once someone names the thing.
