About this sermon
Zechariah writes to people rebuilding a temple and quietly wondering whether it matters. The first half is a sequence of night visions - a measuring line, a lampstand, a high priest re-clothed - and the second turns toward a king who arrives humble and riding on a donkey. It is among the most quoted of the twelve in the New Testament, and among the hardest to read straight through.
