About this sermon
A sequence of love poems sung between a bride and her beloved, and a book that has puzzled readers for centuries - is it a picture of marriage, an allegory of God and his people, or both at once? Its language is frank enough that some traditions have kept it at arm's length. Read plainly, it treats desire and covenant faithfulness as belonging together, and says so without embarrassment.
