About this sermon
Proverbs 5 warns about the adulteress in terms of taste and aftertaste — honey at first, bitter as wormwood later — and then turns, unexpectedly, into one of the warmest passages on marriage in the Old Testament. The image of drinking from your own cistern makes the case positively rather than by prohibition. Faithfulness is offered as the better pleasure, not merely the safer choice.
