About this sermon
Luke states his method at the outset: he has investigated carefully and is writing an orderly account so that Theophilus might know the certainty of what he was taught. The result is the longest of the Gospels, and the one with the widest interest in outsiders — shepherds, Samaritans, women, tax collectors. This overview introduces the book and the second volume, Acts, that follows it.
