Proverbs 2 makes wisdom conditional on effort: if you receive, if you cry out, if you search for her as for silver — then you will understand the fear of the Lord. It is a chapter of long sentences and delayed payoff, which suits its subject. What waits at the end of the search is protection, discernment, and a straighter path through decisions that would otherwise be guesswork.
