About this sermon
A faith that costs nothing gets measured here against 1 Corinthians 13, where gifts, knowledge and even burned bodies without love come to nothing, and against James' reminder that the demons believe and tremble. Between them sit Jesus asking why people call Him Lord without doing what He says and the rulers of John 12 who believed but loved the praise of men. It ends with an inventory of shallow habits — the churchgoer, the bedside reader, the crisis-only pray-er.
