The Thessalonians took what they heard as God's word rather than a man's, and it cost them something. This session reads 1 Thessalonians 2:13-20 closely — the opposition that followed, Paul's blocked attempts to come back, and the striking language he uses for the people he taught, calling them his hope and joy.
