After the long passage on the man of sin, the letter turns to thanksgiving: God chose them for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, and called them by the gospel. The charge that follows is short — stand fast, hold what you were taught — and the session asks what holding fast looks like in practice.
