The Tongue - James 3, Part 2
James 3
About this sermon
James stacks images on top of each other — the bit in a horse's mouth, the rudder of a ship, a spark in a forest — to make a small thing look enormous. The second session follows that argument to the strangest line in the chapter, where blessing and cursing come from the same mouth, and asks whether one spring can really give both fresh and bitter water.
