About this sermon
Paul's description of life before Christ is blunt: dead in trespasses and sins, walking in step with the age, by nature children of wrath. There is no partial credit in the diagnosis. Then comes the hinge of the whole letter - but God, who is rich in mercy - and the paragraph turns from something like a coroner's report into a resurrection.
